Less than two months after being selected as pick #8 in the Mid-Season Draft, James Peatling ‘JP’ was chosen to debut for the GWS Giants this past weekend.
Round 20 saw the Giants take on Port Adelaide in yet another relocated match, this time due to Queensland’s Covid Lockdown. Marvel Stadium August 1st, 6:10pm – the stage was set for another debuting Demon.
Playing as a midfield and half-back, JP took to Marvel Stadium with immense skill and talent, clearly demonstrated in his game statistics of 19 disposals, 14 kicks and 7 marks. His valiant efforts were rewarded, as he was named MVG (Most Valuable Giant) for the round.
Described by Giants Coach, Leon Cameron, as showing “great persistence” Peatling has continuously displayed a high playing talent level, and is known for his high-flying marking, dash from defence and long kick.
Peatling’s Giants jumper (#45) was presented to him by GWS Assistant Coach & former Swans/St Kilda player, Adam Schneider.
We wish JP all the best in his footy career and can’t wait to see where it takes him!
💬 "It's not the result we wanted but I was stoked to get on and play my first game."
