Jarrod Myers 200

This weekend the Club celebrates Jarrod ‘Jazz’ Myers’ 200th open-age game for the Pennant Hills Demons.

Jarrod, age 42, is in his 19th season with the Demons after arriving at the Club in 1999. Jarrod grew up in the local area and began playing at age 7 with the Westbrook Bulldogs. He played junior footy through to the Under 16s, playing 138 games and winning a staggering 6 premierships along the way.

He represented Sydney and NSW several times while a junior and played 4 games with the NSW/ACT Rams. A right foot kick, Jarrod has played most of his footy as a rover or half forward. He first played with the senior club in 1999, played 27 under-age games over three seasons and was a member of the 1999 Under 18 Premiership side.

He played his first open-age game in 2001 in the Reserves, where up until recently he has played most of his footy for the Demons. His solitary Seniors appearance for Penno was in 2005. In the same year, he was the Reserve Grade Best & Fairest, its Vice Captain and kicked 30 goals. He was also a runner-up in the Snow Medal and has held leadership positions at different times during his career. He won a Flag with 3 rd Grade
in 2008 and was Best on Ground in the Grand Final.

In 2000 and 2001 he had the opportunity to play Swans Reserves, playing alongside Swans’ legends Ryan O’Keefe and Tadhg Kennelly, amongst others. He loved being in the “Red and White” (not as much as the red  the blue – editor) and regards his best on ground performance in a Friday night curtain-raiser for the Sydney Swans as the “best game of my life.”

His footy career has been a bit stop-start, missing two seasons of footy in 2010/11 with a knee injury that required surgery. Returning to footy in 2012, he took on the player/coaching job for the 3 rd Grade side in 2013 and had instant success, winning the Division 4 Flag that year.

In season 2015, he passed the coaching baton to Nathan Breen, however, Jazz continued to play in the lower grades. A further premiership came along in 2016, in Division Five. Jazz kicked five goals and was named Best on Ground. At the end of season 2019, Jazz retired from competitive footy, 6 short of 200 games. However, in 2025, after a five-year hiatus, he was back in 2025 playing in the Masters team.

Jazz has been a fantastic servant of the Club for the better part of 20 years and we’re sure that his club-mates will join in congratulating him on achieving this magnificent milestone. Well done, Jazz!

Go Penno!
