About The Pennant Hills Demons AFL Club

The Pennant Hills Demons Australian Football Club has been part of Sydney’s football community since 1971, bringing together players, families, volunteers and supporters through a shared passion for Australian Rules Football. From its beginnings as a senior destination for local junior players, Pennant Hills has grown into a Club with a proud record of developing talent and achieving success across multiple grades.
Today, the Club provides opportunities across Men’s and Women’s Open-Age football, Men’s Under 19.5’s, Women’s Under 20s and Men’s Masters. With pathways for junior and emerging players, competitive football across different divisions and a place for experienced footballers to remain involved, Pennant Hills combines football ambition with the community spirit at its heart.
A Proud Football History
Pennant Hills has celebrated premierships across Senior, Reserves, Divisional and Youth football. The Men’s top-grade premierships in 2000, 2006, 2008, 2015 and 2017 remain significant milestones, alongside achievements throughout the Club, including the history making Women’s Division 2 premiership in 2022.
Generations of players, coaches and volunteers have helped build that history. Their contribution is recognised through the Club’s honour rolls, life memberships and the traditions passed on to each new group of Demons.
Playing in the oldest traditional navy blue and red stripe of the Melbourne Football Club, we inherited the ‘Demons’ name from our sister-club Melbourne in the AFL. Our club song, which is sung after every winning game, is to the tune of “You’re a Grand Old Flag”, which is the same as that sung by the Melbourne Demons AFL Team.
A New Chapter: Sydney Football League in 2027
Following the 2026 AFL Sydney season, Pennant Hills will enter the Sydney Football League in 2027, the new premier Australian Rules football competition in New South Wales. The Club has secured licences for Senior Men, Senior Women, Under 19.5 Men and Under 20 Women.
This next chapter builds on Penno’s history of player development and creates opportunities to strengthen connections across the Northwest, Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions. The Club’s divisional and Masters programs will remain an important part of its football offering alongside the new SFL teams.
The ambition is to provide a strong destination for higher-level football while retaining the local connections, participation opportunities and Club spirit that make Pennant Hills what it is.
A Destination to Develop Your Game
Pennant Hills has a reputation for producing exceptionally talented young players, earning the Club the nickname of “The Footy Factory”, with many current and past players reaching VFL and AFL level.
That tradition continues through a focus on helping players improve their skills, understanding of the game and readiness for the next level. The Club’s football program brings together coaching, strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and medical support to help players improve their physical preparation and manage recovery. Individual development sits alongside a strong emphasis on teamwork, commitment and contributing to team success.

Pennant Hills is committed to providing a positive environment for players, coaches, volunteers and supporters. Respect for teammates, opponents and umpires is an expectation across every program, supported by the Club’s codes of conduct, member protection and anti-discrimination policies. Player wellbeing, clear communication and a supportive coaching environment are central to the Club’s approach, alongside the pursuit of on-field success.
Connected to the Northwest Football Community
Strong Junior Clubs are essential to the future of football. Pennant Hills works alongside Junior Clubs and football communities across Sydney’s North and Northwest to help young players understand their options and continue playing beyond their junior years.
These relationships are about more than identifying emerging talent. They support friendships, participation and a lasting connection to the game. Whether a player is pursuing higher-level football or enjoying competitive footy with mates, the aim is to provide a clear and welcoming next step within their football community.
The continued growth of the senior football club can be attributed to our longstanding local ties with our Sydney Junior AFL affiliates the Pennant Hills Junior Demons, Westbrook Bulldogs, Hornsby-Berowra Eagles and the North Ryde Dockers.
Our Home: Mike Kenny Oval, Greenway Park
Pennant Hills is based at Mike Kenny Oval in Greenway Park, Cherrybrook, with access from Shepherds Drive. The oval is situated in the Hornsby Shire Council within close proximity to surrounding suburbs including Pennant Hills, Cherrybrook, Castle Hill, West Pennant Hills, Dural, Galston, Hornsby, Ryde, Beecroft and Epping.
The venue includes two playing fields – MKO1 on the upper ground and MKO2 on the lower ground – along with home & away change rooms, a canteen and bar, electronic scoreboard and upper and lower parking facilities.
