About The Pennant Hills AFL Club

The Pennant Hills Demons AFL Club is one of the premier Sydney AFL clubs, and has been a member of the Sydney AFL community for over 50 years.

Founded in 1971, The Pennant Hills ‘Demons’ began in the Sydney Football Association (SFA), and after a period that included 2 premierships, moved to the Sydney Australian Football League, now known as Sydney AFL, where we are now still a member.

In 2024 we will field 9 teams (4 Men’s, 2 Women’s, 2 U19’s and Masters), the Pennant Hills AFL Club’s vision is to become the best club in the league. Our club motto ‘Every Heart Beats True’ and those at the club who’ve experienced our culture and values of ‘Club, Team, Self’ certainly know this to be a valid motto. We take pride in the development of our players and ensure that new players will never feel out of place with our great club environment and culture. The Demon’s culture is built on the qualities of friendship, loyalty and community and it is these three ideals that make the Demon’s such a successful on and off-field force.

Playing in the oldest traditional navy blue and red stripe of the Melbourne Football Club, we inherited the ‘Demons’ name from our sister-club Melbourne in the AFL. Our club song, which is sung after every winning game, is to the tune of  “You’re a Grand Old Flag”, which is the same as that sung by the Melbourne AFL Team.

The Pennant Hills Demons have been one of the most successful clubs in the Sydney AFL, winning multiple flags in many different grades and divisions, with brilliant results across all grades. Pennant Hills has a reputation for producing exceptionally talented young players, earning the club the nickname of “footy factory” with many current and past players reaching the VFL and AFL level. Our players and coaches are encouraged to improve their playing and coaching skills and qualities, supported by the club’s Player Development Program and Coaching Development Program which are facilitated by past AFL players and our Football Department.

The continued growth of the football club can be attributed to both our longstanding local ties with our Sydney JAFL affiliates (Pennant Hills Demons, Westbrook Bulldogs, Hornsby-Berowra Eagles, North-Ryde Dockers), as well as our continued influx of players from outside our feeder zone that have heard about our great club. These two main player pathways lead to an increasing wave of new players, friends and supporters joining the club who too, like the rest of the Demon’s community, embody all of the qualities we strive toward.
