Junior to Senior Football Pathways

Your Footy Journey Doesn’t End with your Junior Football Club. The next chapter starts at the Pennant Hills Demons.

Finishing junior football is a significant milestone. For some players, it’s an exciting opportunity to take the next step. For others, it can bring uncertainty about where they fit, whether they’re ready for senior competition or whether football can continue alongside study, work and other commitments. At the Pennant Hills Senior Australian Football Club, we believe every young footballer deserves the opportunity to keep playing. That’s why our Women’s Under 20s and Men’s Under 19s programs are such an important part of our football pathway. They provide a connection between junior and senior football, allowing young players to continue developing, build confidence and remain involved in the game alongside their peers.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need somewhere to take your next step.

Women’s Football Pathway

From Junior Girls to Senior Women

The growth of girls’ football across Sydney’s North and Northwest has created exciting opportunities for the next generation of female footballers. But the transition from Under 17s into open-age women’s football can be a significant step. Players are often balancing school, university, employment and other commitments, while adjusting to the physical demands and expectations of senior competition. We believe there should be a pathway that supports that transition.

Women’s Under 20s — Building the Future

Established in 2026, the Pennant Hills Women’s Under 20s program provides young women with an opportunity to continue their football development in an environment designed around this important stage of their journey. The program focuses on:

  • Development: Building football skills, game understanding, confidence and physical readiness.
  • Connection: Maintaining friendships and creating new relationships with players from across the Northwest football community.
  • Opportunity: Providing a pathway into senior women’s football, including Premier Division and other community competitions.
  • Participation: Supporting young women to balance football with education, employment and life beyond the game.
  • Belonging: Creating a welcoming, supportive environment where players feel valued and want to remain involved.

Whether you’re an experienced youth footballer, returning to the game or exploring senior football for the first time, our aim is to help you find your place. We’re committed to developing players, building relationships and creating a sustainable future for women’s football.

Your Football. Your Ambition.

Not every player wants the same thing from football. Some aspire to play at the highest level. Others simply want to compete, stay active, spend time with friends and enjoy being part of a team. Both ambitions matter. Our goal is to provide an environment where young women can develop at their own pace, enjoy their football and continue participating for years to come.

Because the best measure of a successful pathway is how many young women still love playing the game.

Men’s Football Pathway

From Junior Boys to Senior Men

Moving from junior football into senior competition is an important step in a young player’s development. It’s an opportunity to build on the skills, friendships and experiences developed through junior football while adapting to new challenges. The Pennant Hills Men’s Under 19s program provides a dedicated environment to support this transition.

Men’s Under 19s — Taking the Next Step

Our Men’s Under 19s program gives young footballers the opportunity to continue developing their game within a senior club environment while playing alongside their peers. The program supports:

  • Continued football development and game understanding.
  • Building confidence and readiness for senior competition.
  • Maintaining friendships and connections established through junior football.
  • Opportunities to progress into Pennant Hills’ senior men’s teams.
  • Balancing football with education, work and other commitments.

Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself at a higher level or simply want to continue enjoying the game, the Under 19s provides an important next step.

More Than Just Playing Football

A lifelong connection to football doesn’t always mean pulling on the boots every weekend. Our football community also provides opportunities for young people to become involved in:

  • Coaching and player development
  • Umpiring and officiating
  • Team management and match-day support
  • Volunteering and community activities
  • Club administration and leadership

These roles are an important part of sustaining community football and offer opportunities to develop skills, friendships and experiences beyond the playing field. We want young people to know there’s always a place for them in the game.

Staying Connected to the Northwest Football Community

The relationships and friendships developed through junior football are worth preserving. Our ambition is to work alongside junior clubs, families and the broader Northwest football community to make the transition into senior football easier, more welcoming and more enjoyable. That means helping players understand their options, encouraging connections between clubs and creating opportunities to remain involved in football. It also means recognising the contribution of the junior clubs, coaches, volunteers and families who have supported players throughout their early football years.

We’re not looking to replace those connections.

We’re looking to help them continue. Ready for Your Next Chapter?

Whether you’re finishing junior football, returning after a break or simply curious about what comes next, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need to be an elite player. You don’t need to have played at the Pennant Hills Demons, or one of our Junior Clubs, before. And you don’t need to know exactly where your football journey will take you. You just need to want to be part of it.
