Northwest AFL Community & Pathways

One Community. Many Clubs. A Future in Footy.

Growing football together across Sydney’s North and Northwest.

Australian Rules Football in Sydney’s North and Northwest is built on strong community clubs, dedicated volunteers, passionate families and young players discovering their love of the game. At the Pennant Hills Demons Australian Football Club, we’re proud to be part of that community.

Our relationships with local junior clubs are about more than where players begin their football journey. They’re about building connections, creating opportunities and helping young footballers continue playing the game they love, wherever their ambitions might take them. From a first kick at Auskick to junior and youth football, senior community competitions and elite development opportunities, we want every player to see a future in footy.

Different clubs. Shared opportunities. One Northwest football community.

Building the Northwest Football Pathway

The transition from junior to senior football is one of the most important stages in a young player’s football journey. It’s also a time when many young people step away from the game. We believe that transition should be an opportunity, not an obstacle.

Through our Junior Club Partnerships and Pathways Program, the Pennant Hills Senior Football Club are working to strengthen relationships across the Northwest football community, helping players and their families understand the opportunities available beyond junior football.

Our focus is on connection, participation, development and creating opportunities for players to remain involved in the game. We want young footballers to feel that they don’t have to leave their community to find their next opportunity.

Working Together for the Future

We believe football across Sydney’s North and Northwest will be stronger when clubs work together. That means building relationships, sharing opportunities, supporting junior-to-senior transitions and helping more young people remain involved in the game.

Success isn’t measured only by premierships or players progressing to elite competitions. It’s seeing a young person still enjoying football at 19, 25 or 35. It’s seeing former players return as coaches, umpires and volunteers. And it’s seeing families remain connected to their football community long after junior football has finished.

Because the best pathway isn’t simply about where a player goes next. It’s about making sure there’s always somewhere for them to go.
