It is with deep sadness we advise that long serving member of the Pennant Hills Demons family, Wayne Keating, passed away peacefully on Friday 24th November surrounded by family.

Born and raised in Snug, Tasmania, he played footy with the local Channel team and then Sandy Bay Seagulls in the Tasmanian Football League. Wayne also coached Dominic Old Scholars – DOSA in the Hobart Amateur competition and was very well respected in the local football community.

His work career saw Wayne, Jackie and the family spend time in Perth, Albury and finally Sydney in early 2009 when he joined the Penno Demons. Wayne was Assistant coach to Jason Clarke for many years with the reserves team, and the combination won the competition Premiership in season 2018. Wayne served as a committee member for several years, managed the canteen with Jackie for a couple of seasons and was renowned with his cooking skills for the after Thursday training sessions with “Wayne’s Roast Beef rolls”. Wayne was recognised with Penno Life Membership in 2021.

Wayne’s funeral service will be held in the Camellia Chapel, Macquarie Park Crematorium on Friday 1st December commencing at 12.30 pm. Following the service the family will be offering refreshments at the Penno Clubrooms facility at Mike Kenny oval in Cherrybrook.

The club extends its sincere condolences to Jackie, Rachel, Daniel & Sarah, Casey & Erin and their families at this sad time.
