What a season 2013 was for Penno. After several years with only a senior men’s and reserves team President Peter Campbell pushed forward with the reintroduction of a ‘thirds” team. With no coach and only a handful of committed players before Round 1, Peter coached the team and was on the phone to get enough players.
After a couple of rounds, Peter would hand the reigns over to Jarrod Myers, who took the team from strength to strength and win the Grand Final against Sydney University.
The Division 3 season had many highlights including Barnaby Howarths’ return to football and playing his 100th game, Owen Baglin and Peter Carter playing in round 2 to avoid a forfeit and 62 players pulling on a jumper during the season. The season also saw Alex Huggins win the competition league award – the Armstrong Medal.
To celebrate the 2013 season, we are having a 10-year reunion.
- Date: Saturday 29 July 2023
- Time: 2.00 to 5.00 pm – Men’s Seniors at 2.40 pm top oval & Men’s Div 2 game at 2.25pm lower oval
- Venue: MKO Clubrooms
During the afternoon snacks and drinks will be available in the Clubrooms with the opportunity to share some of the memories from the year. It is a big day for the club as our reunion coincides with a 10-year U19 Premiership and the 30th Anniversary of the club’s first flag in Sydney Premier competition, in under 19’S.
Please share with as many of the players as possible to ensure they are aware of the reunion. Looking forward to seeing you there.
