James Peatling was rewarded for his perseverance by being taken by the GWS Giants in the 2021 NAB AFL mid-season draft at pick eight.

James Peatling ‘JP’ joined Westbrook Juniors AFL Club in 2013 coming to Pennant Hills Senior AFL club through the junior feeder pathway player. JP played alongside fellow draftees Ely Smith and Kieren Briggs in the U19’s, competing in the finals team.

Peatling was part of the Giants Academy from U13/14’s right through to this week’s drafting into the AFL, becoming the Giants’ first ever mid-season draftee. Having played all five VFL games as a midfielder and halfback this season, James has averaged 22 possessions and is known for his speed and agility.

JP follows in the footsteps of other great Pennant Hills AFL Club draftees, including Jarrod McVeigh, Mark McVeigh, Lenny Hayes, Kieren Jack, Brandon Jack, Kieren Briggs, Ely Smith and Braeden Campbell.

We’ve enjoyed watching JP during his time at Penno, and are excited to see where his AFL career takes him!
