Football
What a highlight watching our Premier Division Women’s run home to the end of their season. The football these girls have been playing is awesome. It is not just the running and hitting targets that is improved but the unselfish acts they undertake (shepherds, blocks, tackles, smothers) to help their teammates be effective with the ball is outstanding. I hope they take a lot of confidence from their end to the season. Get a full pre-season in and 2023 is looking very promising for them.
With a depleted bench we unfortunately ran out of legs against UNSW-ES in Premier Division Men. Was a much better display, with a great start, then last time we met. We certainly “shook their world” and gave them something to think about come finals.
In a tight contest the Reserves led all day, although giving UNSW a sniff in the third. With a strong finish to put them away we hope to take that as the start against Many this week. It was great to see our ex-Club Captain make a return to football after a long rehabilitation from injury. Welcome home Turbo.
With Premier Division Men, Reserve Grade and Women’s Division 2 in finals contention let’s, do what Penno are well known for, get to the games and support their run.
Facilities
Parkwood came during the week and undertook some long outstanding rectification works. It was good to see the ladies toilet door fully operational and other small items rectified. We await replacement hand soap dispensers in the toilets. Cosmetic rectification works on the outside will be completed over the next week. On order are shelves for the storage facility and once delivered and installed we close out Stage 1 of the club rooms.
As outlined last week, you will see works commencing on Stage 2, under council management, next week. By June next season, we should have completed underneath facilities.
Functions
Partners Day
The Spiced Rum that Lisa Maynard was able to get sponsored for Partners Day was very popular. As the day went on the crowd got more vocal as their voice boxes became more lubricated. Although we did not see many partners, there were plenty of players who were happy to take advantage of the drinks package on offer for the day.
We hope that as COVID fallout becomes a distant memory, we will see more partners venture to the club for next year’s day.
Good For Footy Raffle
The best way you can financially support your club now is through the Toyota Good for Footy Raffle. The funds raised here come straight back to the club. These funds will be used to rebuild up to date scoreboards on our top and bottom ovals. This will enhance the experience for all on game day. We are also hoping the scoreboards we can acquire will allow us to entice more sponsors to the club, due to the game day coverage we can provide them.
Please, get on board and purchase your tickets, with the chance to win 1 of 3 brand new cars. We need you. Tickets can be purchased through the link here: https://toyotagoodforfooty.raffletix.com.au/pennanthillsfc?v=1&sref=xncyrbpg
