This weekend the Club celebrates Oliver Williams’ 100th open-age game for the Pennant Hills Demons.
Oliver’s footy journey started in 2009 playing Under 11s for Hornsby Berowra Eagles Juniors. He played 61 games over four seasons with the Eagles. Now 26 years old, Wombat is in his 10th season with the Demons.
At age 16, Oliver joined the senior club in 2015 playing a handful of games in the U19 Division 2 side. After a year off he returned to the Club in 2017 playing with the U19 Division 1 side and got a taste of open-age footy in the third grade team.
In Round 1 of 2019 Wombat made his senior debut against UNSW/ES Bulldogs at Village Green. Unfortunately, the Demons were narrowly beaten (10 pts) by the Bulldogs. Jumper #60 was presented to him by Club Secretary Bob Wray.

Since his debut, Wombat has played mostly seniors and reserves with a smattering of games in the lower grades. He was a member of the 2018 Premier Division Reserves premiership side. This premiership was particularly significant for the club’s reserve grade, as it marked the end of 22 years of finals frustration, including 7 losing Grand Finals since 1996.
Wombat plays mainly in the back half of the ground working the flank. He is a reliable, quick and tenacious player always hard in the contest. He is a skilful player, sure handed, a good mark and accurate kick. Wombat plays with a quiet intensity that is respected by his teammates.
Wombat is a member of a family of football enthusiasts. His father, Todd, has been coach, manager and most recently, President of the club for the past three seasons, 2022 – 2024. Todd now has a senior AFL club development role. Oliver’s mother, Jenny, has been team manager and club treasurer over a number of years. They are a family totally committed to the club and to our Great Game.
Congratulations Wombat on achieving this significant milestone!
Go Penno!
